When my kids were growing up, we would ask them at dinner, “who’s in the clean plate club?” I think my mother-in-law started that with my wife and her siblings. However, back then, it was to see who could have dessert. Today, when I ask someone to join the Klean Plate Klub, it carries a whole new meaning. What I am asking is for them to join me in eating clean. Clean eating can mean different things to different people but the Eat Clean Diet, created by Tosca Reno is the basic philosophy that I personally subscribe to. Let’s face it, we only get one go round in this life. God gave us these bodies with a responsibility to take care of them and while there are certain things that we cannot do, cannot help, and cannot stop, there are plenty of things we CAN and SHOULD do! It may take a little work but it is not difficult and there are different ways of looking at it. First of all, this is healthy eating and lifestyle, not a diet. Basically you should focus on balance – quality protein, quality carbohydrates, and good fats. The amounts and types of each are specific to the individual. Some people NEED more meats others don’t. You should try to get most of what you do eat from whole foods; LOTS of color - greens, grains, fruits and veggies. Limit your intake of processed foods and sugars and drink LOTS of water. My focus is helping individuals through the transition into a healthy lifestyle using non-traditional approaches to weight loss, health and wellness!
